“ Best baked goods that I tried anywhere near the Quarter (and I tried half a dozen places after careful scrutiny!). They have a scary-good selection of delicious things and I wish I could have tried it all. Amazingly friendly people, and not just the staff -- the local patrons as well. I had the babka, kaya bun, two kinds of frittata, a muffaletta breadstick, and iced masala chai, decaf espresso, and Americano across my two visits, and I tried really hard to get there a third time, but had to catch my flight. The culture of the community and neighborhood feel outstanding here. And maybe the best thing I've seen in a bathroom for a very long time - a lotion dispenser! Nobody has time for dry hands. ”
“ I love every little thing about this bakery. First of all, the staff are all so kind. The coffee is amazing and everything is so delicious- both sweets and savory. I recommend the boudin boy with chili crisp and the mufaletta stick. Also the coconut rolls and king cake....well everything! ”
“ This cafe brought me a bit of home (LA) when I was traveling in New Orleans this past weekend. I went 3x times in five days, excessive? i don't think so. I had the Boudin Boy which is exquisite. Tried their king cake which was so fluffy with their croissant bread. I also had the Balaka Bread which was a chocolaty goodness. Most importantly their coffee is a 10/10. In true southern manner, the staff is super friendly. The lines can get a little long, but the early bird gets the bread. ”

“ Visit Ayu Bakehouse, you won't regret visiting... but you will regret NOT visiting! You can also order online if not local anymore. The delicious and game changing Queen Bee king cake arrived in all her glory! Thank you thank you for sharing this Queen Bee filled with local love to us! We are a small but mighty urban farm with beehives and other local produce. So, it was an honor to find your bakery. It's vital to source and utilize local ingredients when possible. Not to mention, you can never go wrong with citrus and honey! So, supporting a local Bakery who sources local ingredients, while creating seasonal flavors with local ingredients... is a Bakery to GET BEHIND! The Queen Bee herself was a gastronomy lovers delight. Our family may be used to the classic king cake and I am thrilled to have introduced them to their first non traditional king cake. We normally try new spots every year, without repeat, but not Ayu! We plan to order another from you this season (if not sold out online). We will be back year after year. Thank you for going above and beyond. While creating a memorable experiences for our New Orleanian family ”
“ Ayu Bakehouse was on mine and my husband's itinerary during our visit to NOLA. It was a little out of our way, walking distance wise, but my husband said screw it let's order the Uber and go! So glad we did because this by far was my favorite bakery for pastries and coffee. I felt like a kid in a candy store. So many delicious options to choose from. When I told my husband how much I spent he goes how?! Lol. We ordered: Boudin Boy (Peanut Chili Oil provided, must try) 10/10 Pain Au Chocolat 10/10 Parm & Chive Biscuit 10/10 Iced Mocha 10/10 Iced Latte (Requested for vanilla) 10/10 Hot Mallow - Pecan Praline (have yet to try) Every pastry was so delicately flakey & flavorful. Our iced drinks were not overly sweet, thank goodness, as we are used to being saturated with from our big name coffee shops. I'm so happy we made the time to come here and wish we had tried them sooner during our visit! I would've probably come back everyday if we stayed closer. Highly recommend! ”
“ Amazing bakery! Unfortunately, it's hard to find a real croissant in the city anymore, but they have them. They make "simple" things very well. ”
“ Frenchmen Street in New Orleans is a must visit when in this vibrant, lively city! This is how we came across Ayu Bakehouse. First, there's no such thing as winter in late December here in Louisiana, people are sitting outside, like it's spring wearing shorts and sunglasses. Ayu Bakehouse is a popular and trendy coffee shop in town. Sadly, the New Orleans traditional baguettes were sold out when we arrived. We got a chocolate croissant instead. We also got a mocha each. Watching them craft these mochas, is like watching an artist craft their masterpiece. The precision and the time used to measure the exact amount of coffee, simply blew my mind. They also used organic cow milk in the mochas. We received a "good neighbor" discount on our goods. Even though I'm not so sure how much of a 'neighbor' I am, coming all the way from Connecticut, regardless, this discount is so much appreciated. Our mochas were super delicious, creamy, foamy and chocolatey. And the chocolate croissant was a great pairing to the mocha. Its crispy and flaky exterior, with the melty chocolate interior is sure to satisfy every chocolate lover. This is a great place to sit outside, while people watching the many interesting individuals of New Orleans. ”
“ Went to NOLA for the first time over Thanksgiving! You know how it went, hungover over the weekend. I definitely needed a pick me up so I went to Ayu since it was about 5 minutes from our airbnb, and OMG I wish I could've went every day that I spent here. The chocolate babka knots were INCREDIBLE! I ate it in literally 2 minutes. Also the ham and cheese croissant never fails me and it didn't at Ayu either. I dipped it in the chili oil and it made it even better. I will FOR SURE be coming back every time I go to New Orleans! :) ”
“ This place is right on Frenchman street and has a line out the door! I'd already had breakfast so I went for a cookie and cinnamon roll along with a coffee. Everything was delicious! Beware though that if it's busy the coffee can take some time... other than that enjoy this place! There looked to be some seating available but it's limited for sure. Felt like a place to grab stuff and go, especially if you are local to the area. ”
